Homebound & Veterans Care
In every town there are people hidden from view, spending each day isolated in their homes. Even in the face of disability, abandonment or other challenges, each person deserves the dignity and the warmth of being with other people in community. The Kim Usery Foundation seeks to set up support systems to reach the homebound.
Care for those who are Homebound
We have a heart to provide the warmth of a human touch, the support of taking them to church or helping them run other errands, and even the comfort of a loving dog through pet therapy. By reaching those who are alone, we refuse to let these children of God become out of sight, out of mind.
Companion Canines for Veterans
The Kim Usery Foundation is a supporter of not-for-profit organizations who provide canine companions for wounded military veterans and those with PTSD who will benefit from canine companionship. These worthy non-profit organizations are dedicated to providing service canines to our wounded warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress and/or traumatic brain injury as a result of military service post 9/11. It was Kim’s heart to see that returning veterans received the much needed love of a companion pet trained to assist them and their families. We join in the goal to give a new leash on life to rescue dogs and military heroes, empowering warriors to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.
The Humane Treatment of Animals
In order for military personnel returning with disabilities, both physical and otherwise, to have pet therapy as an aid to recovery, the foundation supports successful programs such as the Foster Military Pets Program. This offers yet another way for our veterans to be assisted. Kim’s personal experience with pet therapy for the elderly and shut-ins evolved to also include helping those who find homes for pets instead of euthanization, especially programs for military and other service dog related projects.
Loving the Isolated
Matthew 25: 34-36 "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'"
1 John 3:18 "My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth."
James 1:27 "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."
Luke 10:27 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself."
